This event will take place between 9:00am and 3:20pm on 02/03/2026 until 06/03/2026
Our Annual Book Week is from Monday 2nd March until Friday 6th March. Please see below for some more information on just some of the fun things happening and how you and your child can get involved.
Teacher swap - Monday 2nd March
On Monday of Book week the teachers will be swapping classes for a one off fun English lesson. These lessons will be practical and something different for our children to enjoy - they will, of course, be based around a book!
Stop and read
At 9.00am on Wednesday morning the entire school will be stopping what they would normally be doing for 20 minutes of reading for pleasure. This will include all leaders, teachers and office staff! Children can bring in anything they enjoy reading for this time.
Reading Cafes
KS1: Tuesday 3rd March 2.45-3.15pm
KS2: Thursday 5th March 2.45-3.15pm
We would love to invite parents in to read with their child at our reading cafe event. The hall will be set up with books, cushions, juice and biscuits and your child will be brought to the hall to read with you there. This is a great opportunity to share the love of reading with your child and to enjoy some quiet time reading together. Please complete the form on parent mail if you would like to attend.
The Masked Reader
We are running our ‘Masked reader’ competition again in school this year. Some select teachers will record themselves reading a snippet from a book which will be played to the children in assembly. Theft will then spend the week guessing who each masked reader is! The readers will be revealed at the end of the week! This is a fun way to encourage a shared love of reading throughout the school.
World book day dressing up
We invite your child to come to school dressed up as their favourite book character or author (no football kits please) on Thursday 5th March. If you are able, we would love for children to bring in the book which their character is in.
We look forward to seeing you at some of these events throughout the week.
Happy reading,
Mrs Scott
English Leader
