Covid 19 Update Thursday 31st December 2020
Dear Parents / Carers,
The government has made an announcement regarding the opening of primary schools. As a result of the high rates of incidence or transmission of COVID within Chelmsford, Primary Schools must only open next week for children classified by the school as vulnerable or the children of critical workers that do not have alternative arrangements for child care to enable them to go to work.
This bubble of children will be supervised by teaching assistants in school and will carry out the same remote learning as other pupils, set by their class teacher. These critical worker and vulnerable families will be contacted on Monday 4th January by the school and provision will begin for these pupils from Tuesday 5th January. Families of children in reception will be sent a separate communication on Monday to ascertain if they are critical workers and do not have alternative arrangements for childcare that would prevent them from working.
As of Monday 4th January, all learning will be remote until the government and local authority review this on 18th January 2020. As schools were notified of these plans at the same time as the public so please be patient while class teachers get work uploaded onto Google Classroom on Monday for the children.
If you are having trouble accessing the online learning or are struggling then please contact the school office on Monday so that we can support you.
Information regarding free school meals will follow next week once we have received further guidance.
I hope you have all had a restful Christmas under very challenging circumstances. Let's hope that the vaccine can help bring the pandemic to a close in the near future so that all pupils can return to school very soon.
Best wishes and stay safe
