Tag Rugby

4th November 2019

On Monday, 4th November, some of the Year 6 children represented our school in a tag rugby tournament at Writtle College.

Year 6 took two teams to the competition accompanied by Miss Gray and Mrs Armstrong.  Two guest coaches, Mr Carver and Mr Green, kindly came along to share their rugby expertise with the children... and it really paid off!  A little stunned by the speed of some of the passing, both teams were defeated in their first game.  However, following sound advice from the coaches, both teams steadily improved and started scoring tries of their own!

Miss Gray was especially proud of the St Pius X teams because they really worked as a team rather than relying on a star player to carry them!

Bowls Competition

On Tuesday, 12th November, pupils from Year 3 and 4 competed in a competition at Falcon Bowls Club.  The children took part in activities such as Hit the Teddy, Ball in the Hole, Knock the Cones and many more.  Both teams did very well.  Year 3 came 18th and Year 4 came 7th.  We thank the Year 3’s and 4’s for competing at Falcon Bowls Club and they thoroughly enjoyed the event.

Archery, Boccia & Kurling

18th November 2019

On Monday, 18th November, some of the KS2 children represented our school in an Archery, Boccia and Kurling competition held at Chelmsford Sports & Athletics Centre.

Once at the Athletics Centre, the children were split into teams to compete and take part in the three different activities of Archery, Boccia and Kurling.

One child wrote after the event “Many schools were eager to win the competition but were all good sports people.  We all enjoyed the day out and are very grateful to have had this opportunity."

OAA Challenge

25th November 2019

On Monday, 25th November, some of the Year 3 children represented our school in an Outdoor and Adventurous Challenge at Chelmsford Sports & Athletics Centre.

This was an orienteering and problem solving competition where the children had to work really well as a team in order to solve puzzles, crack codes and race other teams!
