Dear Parents
NEW PA COMMITTEE FOR 2017/2018
This letter serves to introduce the Parents’ Association Committee for the new academic year.
I have agreed to take on the role of Chairperson and lead the committee this year. Rachel Taylor (Vice-Chair), Gemma Wiseman (Secretary), Jane O’Connell (Treasurer), Lynette Petherick (Ordinary Member) and Ronnie Bartlett (Ordinary Member) have very kindly agreed to support me to ensure that we raise the most amount of funds possible in order to cover Mrs Derbyshire’s wish list of items to enhance the learning environment and resources available to our children. This is even more important this year in light of the substantial budgetary cuts to schools.
We also have a handful of other parents who have indicated their willingness to assist where necessary. May I appeal to every parent to give some thought to where they can contribute towards the fundraising efforts. Be that in the way of:
Monetary donations
Time donations in terms of helping set up before events and man stalls or the like during events
Donations of prizes / good to sell stationery etc
We are mindful of the fact that everyone is pressed for time in the hustle and bustle of today’s world, but if we all contribute a little in whichever way we can, I am very confident that we will not only achieve our fund raising goals this year, but also make the task that much easier for all. As the saying goes, Many Hands Make Light Work. I’m all about teamwork and really leading by example to show our children that we can pull together as a parent body to do our best for them and in turn instill in them the importance of participation and team work. Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions on how we can maximize our fundraising efforts this year. My e-mail address is tracy@castleman.co.uk and mobile number is 0790 391 6323. You can send me a note or flag me down at school drop off or pick up for a chat. All input is very welcome.
Just a little bit about myself for those who don’t know. I’m South African born and have two daughters. Chloe is in Foundation and Caitlyn is in Year 3. We arrived in the UK in June 2016 but were only able to secure a place for Caitlyn at St Pius in April this year. This is when our association with the school began. We are very happy here and have recently moved into our own home in the neighbourhood and look forward to many happy years here.
Kind regards
Tracy Castleman
