‘Together in God’s loving family, we believe, we learn, we grow.’
The school hall, playground and field are used for Physical Education. P.E. lessons require children to learn to think intelligently and creatively in controlled movement situations using floor and apparatus. They follow a structured scheme of work from KS1 to KS2. Children will have the opportunity to attend swimming lessons. The National Curriculum minimum requirement is that pupils must achieve 25 metres distance award. The school swimming programme compliments this with other water skills. Swimming lessons take place at Chelmsford High School during the school year. Parents of pupils who do not attend swimming lessons,
and who have not reached 25 metres, must ensure that their children receive swimming tuition elsewhere.
A variety of games (including football, netball, rugby, hockey and cricket) are played with the object of improving general skills. Dance is also included in the Physical Education programme.
The school competes in football, netball and cross-country leagues. It is school policy to give children the opportunity to participate where appropriate.
When appropriate, the school will involve other qualified coaches (approved by the L.E.A.) to support with games lessons. For example, coaches from Chelmsford Hockey Club, Chelmsford City FC regularly provide expert tuition to pupils and Chelmsford Borough Council deliver a course in Body Care in Year 2 and Year 5.
The school belongs to Chelmsford Schools Sports Partnership. Under this scheme the children have received coaching in basketball, tag rugby and table tennis.
