PSHE

We want our pupils to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. The umbrella of our curriculum for PSHE encompasses Relationships Education, Health Education, Relationship and Sex Education, Mental Health, Online safety and Economic wellbeing.

We encourage our pupils to play a positive role in contributing to the life of St Pius X’s Primary School and the wider community. In doing so we help develop their sense of self-worth. We teach them how society is organised and governed.  We teach them about rights and responsibilities. They learn to appreciate what it means to be a positive member of a diverse multicultural society.

Whilst PSHE is taught as an individual subject, it also has many cross curricular links. Subject matter taught will be appropriate to the age of the children.
This links with the pastoral care role that the school believes is so important to both the children, their parents, the church and other members of the school community.

The school encourages ecological and environmental awareness and each class has Forest Schools sessions a year. These take place in our established Wildlife Area where the children are able to discover and observe natural habitats and wildlife.
