P.E.
Intent:
At St Pius X, it is our aim to ensure that all children lead happy, healthy and active lifestyles that contribute to a sense of achievement and wellbeing. We believe that P.E. in school has benefits that stretch far beyond the physical. Through sport, children are able to overcome challenges, be inspired by others, develop positive relationships, have a positive body image, develop sportsmanship and teamwork and improve learning achievements and resilience. It is therefore a key element in promoting our six core values that underpin all of our pupils' learning.
Implementation:
Our curriculum offers a broad experience of games, gymnastics, dance, athletics and swimming, where children are able to develop their skills and transfer them across the different disciplines in sport. We are committed to ensuring that our PE curriculum is fully inclusive so that all children are able to access the learning and be challenged to develop and practise their skills according to their needs.
Impact:
It is evident throughout the school how much the pupils at St Pius X enjoy and engage with our physical education curriculum. Our pupils feel inspired to succeed and excel in competitive sport and continue to develop the St Pius X core values, especially integrity, fairness and kindness.
What do our pupils think?
"P.E. is definitely my favourite lesson. I really love when we learn how to improve our skills in games like football and basketball." Seb, Year 6
"It is so much fun to create and perform different routines in gymnastics and dance!" Amelia, Year 6
