Year 4
Welcome to Year 4.
Please find below information about the expectations in Year 4.
If you have any questions or issues, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Year 4 Autumn Term
This term we will be studying Anglo Saxons and Europe.
Maths
See ‘mymaths’ online for weekly tasks. Children should also be practicing their tables and related facts, such as division and number facts, regularly. Tables particularly covers a wide range of year for maths.
Reading in Year 4
Children in Year 4 are expected to read for at least 20 minutes every day. This can be independent or with an adult. We encourage the children to read a variety of texts and genres. Please remind children to record any reading in their reading diaries.
English
An English activity will be set each week and spellings will be given and tested on a weekly basis.
P.E.
P.E. lessons take place every Wednesday and Friday. Children must have their full P.E. kit in school at all times and it is important that personal belongings are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Some children will have swimming lessons after the October half term. Information about this will be sent home nearer the time.
Homework
Homework is set every Friday and due in the following Wednesday. The children will be given a homework book and this can be given in on, or before, every Wednesday.
There is a ‘Homework Box’ in the classroom for returned work.
